Open a tutor profile without losing your place

Check a tutor before you message them

When you’re looking for a tutor, you usually want a few basic facts before you ask anything. You want to know what they teach, when they’re available, how other students rated them, and whether you already sent a request.

That should be something you can check on the tutor’s profile page without having to guess or start over somewhere else.

What happens when you open a published profile

If you’re signed in and open a published tutor profile, the page shows the tutor’s teaching focus, availability, rating, and request status. If you already asked for a lesson, that status is there too.

That matters because it gives you the context you need before you decide what to do next. A tutor who fits your subject, time window, and level of experience is easier to choose when all of that is on one page.

A simple example

Say you searched for help with algebra and found a tutor who looks close to what you need. You open their profile to check three things: whether they teach algebra, whether they have times that work for you, and whether they’re a good fit based on their rating.

If you’ve already sent a lesson request, you can see that too. That keeps you from sending the same request twice or wondering whether the message went through.

From there, you can decide whether to request a lesson, look at another tutor, or come back later.

What you see if the profile is temporarily unavailable

Sometimes the tutor’s profile details can’t load right away. When that happens, you should see a clear retry screen instead of a blank page.

That’s better than wondering whether the page is empty because nothing is there or because it just needs another try. A retry screen gives you one obvious next step: try again.

What to do first

If you’re signed in, start by opening a published tutor profile from the tutor you’re considering. Read the teaching focus first, then check availability, rating, and request status.

If the page asks you to retry, do that and give it another moment. Once the profile loads, you can compare tutors with the facts in front of you and move on to the one that fits your lesson.
